by day the blue will pale down into white where it touches the white of the land, after sunset it has a new circumference-orange, melting upwards into tenderest purple. but the core of blue persists, and so it is by night. then the stars hang like lamps from the immense vault. the distance between the vault and them is as nothing to the distance behind them, and that farther distance, though beyond colour, last freed itself from blue. -e.m. forster (a passage to india)

sturbridge
chanda and i came north sunday to stay at my sister's. this morning she starts her internship at sturbridge. it's a beautiful summer day and i hope it doesn't get too hot as she first has dyepots.
I'll send her some of our cooler weather! There has been a distinct drop in temperature in these parts, but I am resolutely remaining sock free, this is meant to be summer after all :-)
ha ha! that's funny. it's getting very hot and humid here; the usual summer weather. chanda and i have been observing how much further north you are and how your weather doesn't go to the extremes as here. she's been reading about the gulf stream.
