these days morgan's photos from the u.k. feel so peaceful.

i just want to lounge on the lawn with these serene looking cats and maybe hook the hose up to a sprinkler and jump through the water or just lie on my back looking up at the sky and clouds.

after setting up the manger figures, i walked to trader joe's for flour, butter and yeast to make lüssekat buns, and then walked home with greg since we met on sixth avenue when he got off the train from work. now i have to check the dough . . it didn't rise the first hour so i punched it down and kneaded it some more. hopefully it's ready to be rolled out.

this cat looks remarkably like my childhood cat, puff puff (named by my sister after the cat puff from the early reader books in school).

i love this canal boat cat! (they had helped ryan move the canal boat through a few locks around angel).

hot again

it's hot and humid again and very uncomfortable.

morgana sent a pic with uncle jeff in london (my cousin is visiting for a few weeks).

i really enjoyed watching the women's all around gymnastics today . . very exciting and moving! such incredible routines . . especially the floor exercise routines . . the height the gymnasts get on their flips is astounding. 

chanda was visiting her friend natalie this evening, and natalie's very elderly cat, sylvester (who has a friend named joshua).

a wet saturday - autumnal equinox

happy autumn! the sun crossed the celestial equator at 2:50 am this morning . . our nights will now be longer than our days. i'll miss the long summer days . . ! 

 
and it was a rainy day at the green market . . mariebelle (k's housekeeper who just returned from guatemala where she said it was soooo hot and sticky!) and i helped kendall and aurélien carry up several wet bags to their apartment, after which i then picked out some zucchini, okra, carrots and corn, flounder and scallops. aurélien had been insisting on going to the playground, but when mariebelle turned up, he was happy to stay home and help her clean. i think kendall was relieved because no one was at the playground and it was extremely wet. i'm not sure how pleased mariebelle was! no, i'm sure she was fine. she's so good with him and he loves her. kendall will keep him from bothering her too much . . and he'll probably spend the whole time she's there vacuuming! he loves to vacuum.

i'm really enjoying the rainy day today.

chanda sent several photos from her field trip to plum island today. it's a bit wet, but wildly beautiful . .

i've never seen such a fluffy black cat! her name is cobwebs and harley says she's a bit feral.

and this is summer, the mama cat to cobwebs above.

i also spoke with kathy today. it was her birthday (greg and i sang happy birthday into their message machine - they had been out to the new britain art museum and yesterday they had been biking in willimantic where they saw a blue heron, an osprey and an eagle catch a fish in the river . . quite an adventurous day!)

i baked an apple pie today and made black eyed peas with collards, corn bread and sweet potatoes.

chanda's friends came by also . .

we wrote out wishes for each other, folded them and put them in a basket from which everyone picked one or two. some of us read them aloud and it was fun to hear what others had written such as a wish for a kitten, or good travels, or a day of rest . . 

morgan did a few tarot readings with her new deck which focuses on positive energy and simple explanations.
