spring weekend work

we went to check on the house this weekend . . it's definitely lawn mowing season again. everything is turning green and the beach project has been completed (dredging offshore brought sand inland to fill out the shoreline), so the beaches are ready for summer. our favorite restaurant reopened and the pizza place finished their renovation. we had one neighbor over for tea, and watched our other neighbor work all day to fix the shingles on his roof which had blown off in the last storm (after just having the entire roof redone in the fall - i guess we can't count on him for a roof repair recommendation). we were able to take apart the one window that needs repair and order a new part for it. now we just need to have the kitchen window replaced . . cricket and zuzu had a grand time playing and running around . .

i'm enjoying reading black beauty by anna sewall again. kathy gave me a beautiful edition for christmas.

it was such a beautiful day today . . we dropped the compost off at the green market and said hello to kendall and aurélien and then walked to the restaurant cookshop for brunch. their food and service were so good. everyone seemed to be in such a good mood this morning! 

(aurélien has two birthday parties to attend this weekend, and he had one last weekend as well!)

wednesday evening my neighbor (sarah) and i had a phenomenal meal made by korrina at the restaurant where she works which you can read about here, and i posted about the special opening ceremony for the rubin's new exhibit, reimagine: himalayan art now, here.)

an april spring heat wave

some people may have thought it was a very nice day, but milly and i found it to be way too hot for april. we went for a walk at 11:30 and it was 83 degrees.

yawning and panting . . it was a soporific day . . i thought milly would head right to her water bowl when we returned to her home, but all she wanted was her pupperoni treat.

chanda made herself a sandwich and we talked about the summer internships she's applied for, and about the fall semester. she was happy because she found out that she was accepted to a marine biological laboratory four month program she had applied to.

in the early evening, kendall and i went to eat at mary's fish camp . .

it was supposedly 87 degrees and everyone was out and about (it's 80 now at 10 pm as i write).
