busy days

some mornings i've been walking along the high line with chanda on the way to her ballet dance intensive.

korrina came with us today, as she wanted to come with me to the uniqlo store on fifth avenue. (i was looking for a black wool sweater for morgana to take with her to europe, but of course wool sweaters are not in just now!)

 

 the high line begins the spring looking very stark, but by june everything is green and lush.

and despite much construction,  there's still a view along part of the way of the empire state building.

 with the sun shining, it's been very warm even at 8:30 in the morning.

 uniqlo didn't open until ten, so we stopped at le pain cafe at bryant park for coffee and a soft boiled egg and an apple turnover. korrina read the news to me while we walked, and then we did a crossword puzzle while waiting for our food.

 her latest project . . a sweater. i really like the stitch.

i'd like to say what yarn it is, but i can't remember.

 we passed the main library . . and the lions: patience . . 

 and fortitude.

after shopping at uniqlo (where we found some very good "deals," like two pairs of six dollar jeans for korrina, and a ten dollar sweatshirt for me), we took the train downtown to meet morgana at gap and athleta (morgana needed a bathing suit and pajamas before she goes away). and then . . i met chanda to visit the yumiko store on 46th street. i don't know why i agreed to this excursion . . she doesn't need a new leotard, but i knew how much she just wanted to look. luckily . . (!) the nice colors didn't have the right size, and the right size didn't have the nice colors. she'll have to wait for her birthday or christmas. thank goodness. 

then! we went home . . on the bus . . stopping at chelsea market to get shrimp for dinner. i will sleep well after so much walking!
