it's tech week so the five year olds' class was held in the same building as the theatre, which made it easy for me to pop into chanda's rehearsal.

there was a tech rehearsal today for morgan's dance in ellen's concert.

i'm actually not sure of the title yet, though a poster has been made.

the music is polysics' my sharona - afterwards, there were some notes from ellen and from the lighting designer saying he would think about several ideas overnight and add them at friday's rehearsal.

what our outside world looks like these days . . 

dinner with greg at tavern on jane (i had a special brussel sprout dish - i thought it was going to be whole brussel sprouts but they were shaved over sautéed apples sprinkled with bacon and pickled onions).

thursday night tech

they had a long discussion about how to break off at the end of the piece . . and finally decided to add a loud static sound before going to a black out, as if there was trouble and they get lost in space.

i finally realized after filming this that morgan is a space alien . . which would explain all the references they were making to costume and make up looking appropriately alien-like.

(i actually filmed this from a better angle, and without interruption, during friday's dress rehearsal.)

krista brought them some water while they sat and discussed the technical issues with the lighting designer.

they'll have another chance to run it with the new sound changes tomorrow at dress rehearsal.

her dance is called ophiocordyceps, or zombie ant fungus - a piece she began working on when researching the subject for biology class.

camera lens shopping and tech

i was trying to figure out if i could use an old 55mm lens on my camera which has had a 24 mm on since i bought it. for filming tonight's tech i wanted to have something with more depth. 

since it wasn't focusing properly, i decided to finally buy a new lens. i was very fortunate that the store had a used one in excellent condition for $50. (the salesperson, william, was very helpful.)

victoria managed to complete all the important and necessary tasks of relocating to a new home and packed up to fly back to paris this evening. morgan and i walked her downstairs with her bags.
