last day on the cape

today we headed back home. we began with an early morning swim, and then met afterwards to sit and talk a little before saying good-bye . . and then it was time for greg and i to leave the cape until our next visit, which will actually be in october. we'll return with korrina and with my sister and brother-in-law for a week long visit. i'm hoping to take the ferry to martha's vineyard and bike a bit around there.

chanda went to work on her readings for the day and greg and i drove to the popover cafe again, to pick up treats for the car ride home. i thought it was interesting that there was a note on the glass of this door saying that the generator was on the roof. i imagine they get hit by a good many hurricanes and need back up.

back over the bourne bridge . .

greg has been wanting to stop at this diner for awhile now, i think. he's noticed it on past trips. the woman to his left is crocheting granny squares while waiting for her food.

listening to a song from our past when we first met, 1985.

home again . .

orientation

greg and i took an early morning walk to the beach.

and then met chanda for breakfast in the cafeteria . .

and then another beach walk with chanda . . this time with coffee.

admiring some lichen on the return walk . .

greg and i went for a drive into town while chanda finished up some work from her summer internship research. we picked up a few dish towels and sponges for the dorm kitchen, along with a toothbrush as chanda ended up forgetting her's at home.

we returned in time for the orientation . .

after a picnic lunch (i was impressed they offered vegan options), students went on a tour while parents were able to ask questions about the program (at the end of which all students will give a presentation of their projects which we can attend).

resting in our room while waiting for chanda to finish her tour . .

so we could go to the beach again!

but chanda and i went for a swim, which was glorious! the water was so refreshing.

and then we walked into town for dinner.

we visited a local bakery . .

known for its giant popovers . .

which, of course, were delicious. i used to make popovers when the girls were little from my aunt's recipe. now i'm craving them again and will have to look for instructions and bake a batch for breakfast one day.

waiting for the drawbridge . .

i was enchanged with this couple's baby twins, one of whom kept waving its feet around in the air.

dinner at captain kidd's restaurant.

(another delicious meal.)

(i think this film festival would be fun to attend!)

walking around campus before saying good night - we were all very tired.
