september 11

 i alternated between watching the buglisi table of silence dance this morning (streaming from lincoln center), and the reading of the names (streaming from the memorial; read these stories from the gothamist to hear from people remembering their experiences from that time - i found them very moving and wise) before going out to meet deychen at chanda's work (where she's a barista). it was good to see deychen and hear about her august performances this summer in two shakespeare plays in vermont. she's excited because in december a play she worked on in the spring is being produced again at the public theatre. i'll have to go and see it now (greg and chanda were able to go in the spring when it was performing uptown). she'll also be doing some get out the vote work in october. she is also now part of the food coop! (and owes a shift, as does chanda! greg and i were encouraging chanda to call her and sign up for a shift together.)

i walked over to jefferson market with her and then headed east to veniero's to get rainbow and chocolate dipped jam filled cookies to take to adam this weekend. i put some aside for chanda also. she doesn't like the double chocolate mint cookies i made because i put walnuts in them. she and adam are not fans of nuts in cookies, cakes and muffins. morgan made a plum cake sans cinnamon as a facial allergy was acting up. i haven't seen the prune plums yet at my green market. i think i need to be a little more observant this coming week as it's prime time for them and they should be prevalent.

i met kendall and janine at a new restaurant (zimmi's) we've been wanting to try . . 

the food was very good.

they treated me to a delicious pre-birthday dinner.

it was a fun evening out together.

after breakfast, greg and i walked downtown to see the new little syria exhibit.

it's in the elizabeth h. berger plaza at the meeting of three streets: trinity place, greenwich street and edgar street. the area was once called the syrian quarter beginning from the late 1880's as many people from the ottoman mount lebanon/syria area came to live here. it was new york's first community of arabic speaking immigrants. 

the sculpture has the names of many lebanese/syrian writers. i actually couldn't find a plaque with an explanation. i'm hoping they put one up soon as i'd like to know what the arabic means and who the writers are.

it's a lovely exhibit and park.

monday mother's day with korrina and theatre photos from morgan

korrina came over to celebrate mother's day with chanda and i as she had worked all day yesterday (they did brunch and dinner and it was rather exhausting, she said).

it was nice to see her and we had food from moustache that i had picked up.

she and chanda picked out some very pretty roses for me.

morgan has been working sound and lights for a friend's play (sebastian) that is in the peckham fringe festival. it's a one person show and runs about an hour and a half. they have two nights in the very nice canada water theatre, just east of southwark.

my last class at the library is wedensday so i walked milly today . . i love when her ears blow in the wind.

my second week enjoying fellini's outdoor ordering window . .  (they always warm the croissant!)

i had treats in my pocket for her.

the days have been so beautiful - sunny, breezy and cool.

i couldn't resist taking a photo of her on her fluffy bed . . ! she has a little human sister that takes all her mom's attention . . povera milly!

this evening it was taco tuesday for us . .
