cats and friends and mini golf

 

 after visiting the green market in the morning and having a chocolate croissant with tea, i went to the center for a cat care shift. it was the first time on a weekend and the cat rooms were already very clean, so i just played with the cats for over an hour and then posted photos of them on my instagram stories during the rest of the time. they all came out to play, including darla and ridley.

several families came in to meet cats in the other cat room and many people stopped by to watch darla and nala play with the balls and wands.

nala was ready for a nap afterwards . . 

 

back in her window position . . 

greg met me outside the center and we walked to pier 25 to play miniature golf with ron and andy. it was greg's first time playing. he never went with the girls and i when we would meet with clyde, alex and louie during past summers as he was at work.

greg and i each got a hole in one which is always exciting.

it was nice being out on the pier . . 

afterwards, we had dinner at bubbies (andy had a cobb salad, i had veggie chili, greg a pulled pork sandwich and ron a burger).

the best part, of course, was dessert . . i love their pies and their homemade vanilla ice cream. today i had peach (as there wasn't any blueberry, sadly) and then we walked home along hudson street. the weather has been so beautiful - in the low 80's with a cool breeze. the cicadas have been humming all august, and the crickets are now chirping at night in the cooler air.

mini golf, pizza and venieros

we met our friends clyde and alex at the miniature golf course on pier 25 (hudson river park between north moore and franklin streets).

 the weather has been so beautiful! it was about 83 degrees today with a nice breeze.

we stopped at whole foods to pick up two packages of whole wheat pizza crusts before heading over to the pier . . and morgana even managed to have the table set for dinner before we left the apartment.

the trees have grown quickly since last summer and it didn't feel too hot. i think they're either honey locust or black locust.

 and lots of black eyes susans are in bloom everywhere . . 

we walked home along the river and spotted mushrooms at christopher street. it's part of an installation with the whitney museum by yayoi kusama called "guidepost to the new space." the pieces are made from styrofoam and fiberglass with urethane and acrylic paint. the girls and alex weren't impressed when they found out they couldn't roll around on top of them. parents beware! situations like this are a nightmare with small children. how could anyone lay out all these gorgeous looking red and white tops and ask children to stay off them?

 continuing on to home and pizza dinner.

afterwards, clyde treated us to dessert at veneiro's. morgana had a decaf mochaccino with cantelope gelato; chanda had pistachio and coffee gelato; greg had a chocolate shell cannoli with a cup of coffee; i had a chamomile tea and two miniature fruit tarts (raspberry and blackberry); and clyde had a mocha milk shake and italian cheesecake. alex's dessert was the best i thought: a mud pie with a lemonade . .  !

korrina came home late from a special photography fundraiser for breast cancer. tyler was able to get her a ticket through his internship. she said the photos were beautiful and she had a wonderful time, even staying late to help them clean up.
