at the whitney again and the tirolean first communion celebration

greg has been missing the whitney museum. we had let our membership lapse as we had joined the rubin museum instead, but it's time to renew and he finagled his way into the whitney again. that's alright, i finagled my way into both, so we're both pleased as punch.

he's happy to use his one day only twenty percent off coupon on the journals of keith haring.

 the bookstore . .

and a new exhibit which i think chanda will like. why, greg asked?

 because they're climbing, i said.

the downstairs coat check which i never knew existed until today.

child with balloon hat.
there was a balloon artist at chelsea market today. i have never seen creations quite like this!
(i apologize for my bad composition skills. my camera has a lot of quirks lately, one being that the auto focus doesn't work, and since i need to focus myself, and have much trouble doing so, i have to use the outside screen to compose the photos. i'm more accustomed, and prefer, to use the viewfinder. i don't know what i'm going to do about my camera . . )

below are three photos of the first communion celebration in tirol:

it's such a lovely procession through the streets . .

laundry, tea and tirol

it was chilly in the morning but then warmed up. greg and i did a lot of laundry, and i loved walking through the grey light of the courtyard.

colors often feel more vibrant on grey days . .

the laundry room garden is looking wonderfully overgrown . .

usually the laundry is busy on a saturday . .

but there was not even one other visitor today.

we straightened up the apartment all day for our tea party. our neighbor victoria came by with her good friend ajosa. greg hung out with us for the first half and then went for his daily constitutional walk (the conversation centered on james baldwin, whom victoria once interviewed, and the last coop meeting which victoria had attended and was filling us in on) . . those of us who remained talked until 8:45 pm . . . . about ajosa's struggles with getting a green card in texas, victoria's latest photo exhibit and her future facebook page, schools and homeschooling, and the interests of our children.

while they were here morgana sent some pictures of the first communion preparations . .

it looks so lovely; i wish i could go.
