the avenue of trees

back in august (we knitted while waiting for hurricane irene) and september, morgana, chanda, janet and i were busy knitting squares for robyn love's project in south korea called the avenue of trees. she recently made a wonderful movie about it and you can find it on her blog here.

send a message to the universe

today we did laundry and a lot of straightening and decluttering of the schoolbook area, in addition to some italian and instrument practice and spelling. since i didn't take any pictures, i thought i would put up some photos of our knitted squares along with some links to the project for which they were created:








fiber artist robyn love collected squares from friends, family, friends of friends, and people who walked in off the street to lionbrand's knitting night. she sewed them all together and attached them to a rocket at the new york hall of science during the maker faire exhibit on saturday and sunday, september 25th and 26th. you can check out her blog posts about it, and you can also visit the lionbrand website for their movie and account of the event. it sounds like it was a very special weekend and many people sent out their messages of hope, peace and love (and everything else!) to the universe.
