greg, kendall and i went to visit pier 53 that opened yesterday after a renovation. it's a very beachy theme with sand, umbrellas, adirondack chairs, picnic tables and a large ball field. as you can see a lot of people came out to investigate. (the steel structure is an artwork by david hammons titled day's end.)
