greg and i rode the citibikes downtown to the wall street ferry landing. (he's quite lawless biking these days! he was winding in and out of the cars - sans helmet! - and riding in and out of pedestrians on the sidewalk! i don't know this man!) i had texted my friend lizette that i was on my way. she texted back, "wonderful!" however, halfway there i received another text from her asking if it was the correct day, "i think it's supposed to be the 23rd or the 30th," she wrote. and you know, she was right! oh well, c'est la vie! we continued on our way, and had a fun time traipsing about downtown brooklyn.
greg and i decided to pop by the playground where lizette was with her granddaughter. they would soon be on their way to a birthday party but i was hoping to catch her before they left . . and we did! it felt wonderful to see her . . so heartwarming.
and we were in time to see her husband joe who had come to meet her and was on his way to work. we walked with them for several blocks and then went our separate ways.
greg wanted to have breakfast at one of his favorite diners, the new apollo.
some half and half for my coffee this morning.
grits and a sunnyside up egg and delicious fresh orange juice . .
and a perfectly ripe, whole avocado.
we walked to trader joe's on atlantic avenue. it's in a beautiful old bank building and greg had never been inside.
it's very bright and spacious . .
we bought a few things . .
and then walked to woolyn yarn store, just a few blocks further west.
woolyn's windows are always my favorite . .
greg waited for me outside.
next stop . . amy's!
the yarn is blue sky fibers organic cotton in colorway sundrop.
returning to the ferry . .
and back to manhattan island.
