morgana and i met chanda in bryant park to see the holiday decorations.
our first stop were the windows at lord and taylor's . .
which depicted winter city scenes . .
toy squirrels crawling along evergreen vines strung along the pillars,
a traveling circus,
an arctic adventure,
and santa in his workshop which we thought was jules verne (as suggested by another sightseer and which we thought was apropos).
we then walked past the main library branch . .
to the saks fifth avenue windows which featured snow white.
this is the first year i've enjoyed these windows.
i was impressed with how the figures moved and the richness of the clothing.
we then took a peek inside the saks store . .
and then walked across the street to rockefeller center to see the ice skaters . .
i was hoping to browse through the met museum store, but it was no longer there.
instead we visited godiva for a hot chocolate.
here's one last picture of the giant christmas tree that adorns rockefeller plaza. it's an eighty year old norway spruce from state college, pennsylvania. it's seventy five feet tall and weighs twelve tons. after the holidays, the tree will be milled and made into lumber and donated to habitat for humanity to be used for home building.
