christmas in connecticut

we drove out in the morning to celebrate christmas with kathy, warren, nana and jason. adam had to return to cape cod last night as he had work today.

 korrina found a beautiful tablecloth in the april cornell shop when she visited jason in august.

i think jason is looking at the books we gave him, and korrina is getting ready to open her gift from aunt kathy and nana:

 a hand blender, just what she had requested.

new pajamas for nana.

 i had made red bean and quinoa chili at home for this evening's dinner. 

 getting ready to sing around the christmas tree,

 and then panettone for dessert!

 and delicious krumkaker from brian's mom . .

 with whipped cream and jam, of course!

second night celebration

we made it to nana's in time for hors d'oeuvres. i was surprised to see the old tree stand. it's beautiful, but i know it's very heavy and i think it's actually not easy to get the tree to stand straight in it. i wondered . . but i didn't ask! maybe some things are best left a mystery!

we played a game of catchphrase, a birthday gift to korrina from her cousins and aunt and uncle. it was great!

we had a delicious dinner of chicken cacciatore (povero morgana had her's sans tomato sauce . . !). for dessert there was christmas butter cookies and petit fours and biscotti.

(but where's greg? he had to stay home and go to work . . )

korrina worked on her knitting . . 

and finished a beautiful pair of long socks/stockings.

ahhh. finally opening gifts.

skype to the rescue . . greg had a gift from my sister and her family that he opened at home.
