clean windows

the construction workers finished our lintels today and cleaned our windows (which made me so happy that i couldn't help dancing around the room while telling chanda about it on the phone as she had called me from school).

dinner this evening was chicken soup from gourmet garage with hot dogs and baked beans.

cleaning windows

 we used to clean our windows yearly, or at least i thought we did! i searched my labels for the last window cleaning date and it occurred four years ago. while i can believe it's been four years since i cleaned the windows, i'm surprised not to find any more posts prior to that.

 you can imagine how dirty they were . . i thought it had only been two years. i suppose it could be only two years and i just haven't recorded it . . . (i'm rolling my eyes here), however, i record so much mundanity, i can't believe i haven't recorded all the times we've washed windows. it is such a HUGE project.

 the bottom window needs to come out in order to clean the outside of the top window, and then the screens come out and get washed in the tub. the soot just rolls off and gets all over everything, which means that the whole bathroom really needs to be thoroughly cleaned afterwards.

 after cleaning two windows, greg just HAD to take a lunch break.

well, i guess it was lunch time . . and we didn't finish the job until 5 pm, but then we did sort through boxes and bags in morgana's room. it's amazing the debris that can accumulate over days and weeks and months. we have two big bags for the salvation army sitting by the door, and i feel like we just took bags of stuff to them not that long ago.

once a year we clean the windows. it's always a big project. come autumn, i'll want to clean them again, but i won't . . because . . it's such a big project!!! but then, of course, there are only four . . thank goodness.

morgana and chanda decided to sort through their books and papers. morgana has been wanting to get rid of the table in the corner, and set up a book reading "couch" in it's place.

i think they're listening to the movie music from the lord of the rings. i think this is the "mordor" theme.

i thought the music in this room was a bit more pleasant.

greg is replacing the screen after i washed it in the tub. we have four windows to do. the screens and bottom windows get taken out.

clyde is back in town. since we were washing windows today, we went out to eat at charlie mom on sixth avenue and 11th street.

we shared vegetable noodle soup, sesame noodles, vegetable dumplings, snow peas and water chestnuts, and broccoli in garlic sauce.

after dinner we went for a walk on the high line . .
