rhinebeck weekend . . friday at indie untangled

there's so much to say about the weekend, that it will take quite a long post to fit it all in. i think i will do it in bursts, beginning with last friday, the 19th (i'm writing this a week later!). we left manhattan around 9 am and dropped my friend janet off in stone ridge, where she stayed with a friend before attending the fair on saturday. we then made our way to saugerites, where the indie untangled trunk show took place in a large art factory space. 

korrina is wearing her wild and free shawl (knitted with o-wool fingering) and her "bluebirds in winter" vest (carol sunday's nepali bird vest) knitted with quince and co lark.

 

 i'm wearing my pebble beach shawl (the yarn is stonehedge fiber mill's crazy loaf) and the portland pullover sweater from taproot magazine's issue #16, shelter (with brooklyn tweed's sheltar yarn).

 the factory space was airy and bright, with lots of windows and skylights. we were in the first group of attendees from 1 to 3 pm . . 

everyone waiting to go in . . we arrived at 12:20 for a 1 pm opening . . many others were arriving that early also.

 so much yarn, so many people, so many bags . .

 after an hour i was incredibly thirsty and hungry. fortunately, they had a separate section where they served tea, broccoli cheddar soup and roll up sandwiches with lettuce, ham and cheese. the food was very good. i was impressed. i also had an earl grey tea and korrina had an ipa beer.

 afterwards, we had a fun time just hanging out on the back of the car . .

we drove to our airbnb and checked in and then walked into town to a local yarn store/tea shop that we had heard about and passed on the way.

 it was a lovely store and had free cups of tea to sample . .

dinner at a tavern where we saw many untangled attendees who, of course, were looking forward to the sheep and wool festival the next day.

 we shared a delicious fall salad with local butternut squash and apples, farro, pepitas, goat cheese and an apple cider vinaigrette . .

and fish and chips. so good!

 back in the room . . admiring the haul of the day . .

 and ready to begin reading one of my favorite books, the shepherd's life, by james rebanks, about his family's sheep farm in the lake district, matterdale, cumbria, england.
