making birthday peach cake

for my birthday, korrina made me a peach cake; recipe courtesy of her workplace wallse and owner/chef kurt gutenbrunner

first off, mixing the ingredients in my sister's shiny new kitchen aid mixer. k enjoyed this immensely (we have a small electric hand mixer at home!)

first the egg whites are whipped with the sugar . .

then the yolks are added one at a time . .

mix well . .

and add the flour first by hand before using the mixer . .

for the proper consistency, timing is essential . .

and only after whipping the butter separately is it all mixed together . .

the peaches are gently place on top of the batter . . you don't want them sinking down to the bottom.

snip, snap, snout . . the peach cake is now out . .

and doesn't it look delicious!

morgana cut up the potatoes and squash for the summer soup chowder.

we're all waiting for me to finish with the photos so we can visit the new yarn store in town and go  for a swim in the lake.
