friday night

linquini and clams for dinner . . i had extra jars of clam juice to use up, so picked up pasta and clams to complete the dish. we never did have it on christmas eve this past holiday time, as we were out at the house with my sister and her family . . but chanda, greg and i enjoyed it this evening . . 

along with a game of apples to apples before we began our different activities/projects (chanda to see a friend, greg to do his spanish duolingo, and i to work on another hat i'm knitting).

(and i won the game tonight.)

snow day

weekend in connecticut

greg and i drove to connecticut friday night for a three day visit with kathy and warren. the deep summer  july green of the garden always feels so wonderfully lush and heavy; especially with the rainstorms that have been passing through.

we spent part of the day (saturday) at the lake, going out on the long boards (kathy and i), kayak (warren) and canoe (kathy and i, and also greg and i).

korrina sent some pics from the apartment. she took care of the cats for us and stopped by before going into work:

meanwhile, back in connecticut . . 

we had a little birthday celebration after dinner for me . . 

with key lime pie (our favorite) . . 

and two wonderful books to read from kathy and warren.

greg looks so somber but he was happy devouring his pie.

and we played a game of bananagrams which greg won.

sunday . . 

it was another grey and rainy morning, but the sun poked through in the early afternoon and we spent a relaxing time at the lake again.

chanda stopped at the apartment to check on the cats today and sent these photos:

warren rolled a yahtzee!

a delicious meal made by kathy and warren, grilled chicken, tomato casserole, broccoli salad (from biy y grocery store) and tabouleh.

monday . . 

kathy, warren and i drove to hartford to pick out outdoor lights for the family home at a special lighting store. it was huge and i'm sorry i didn't take a more panaromic photo of the store (i thought i had but don't see them on my phone). i only have photos of the individual lights . .  (rather boring) . . (greg stayed at the house to work) . . 

these are not the ones we chose. we ended up buying four lights that were $30 to $60 dollars each, rather than the 120/140 dollar ones. so much more economical!

afterwards, we had lunch at mozzicato's cafe (i've always wanted to go) and then chose cookies from the bakery to take home.
