chanda's morning photo from woods hole. greg and i returned monday, but the cable to upload the photos from my camera was left in the car, so i haven't created a post about the visit yet (which was incredibly fun and beautiful . . it felt so good to be on the cape again).
it's good to see her smile . . she's excited about the program (and loves it) but has been feeling a bit homesick.
i hope she got in for a swim today . . the beach is only a short walk from her dorm (and we went swimming twice when we were there) and the water is a perfect temperature . . just cold enough to be refreshing.
pluto lying by the cooler draft coming from the foyer on the other side of the door . . it's been very hot and humid here. i spent yesterday lying around also, with a headache, itchy eyes, sneezes, and a runny nose. i really did not feel well with the change of the weather after we had such a comfortable august with chilly nights. korrina was feeling it too, and had a quiet day off from work - knitting on her latest project and going for a walk in her neighborhood.
i've been much better today and took milly for a walk along the river.
for my knitting project, i went up two needle sizes (to an 8) for the final panel with a different, but very similar yarn in the color pollen from the plucky knitter (sister color to pollen speckle, the cream colored yarn with acid green and light olive speckles i used for the main part of the shawl). (the shawl pattern is pure joy by joji locatelli.)
milly and i came upon some street painters . .
here's milly waiting for her pupperoni or chicken chip treat in her cool air conditioned apartment (as compared to our fans blowing hot air apartment - she's a lucky dog. if my cats knew, they might be quite envious).
in the evening, greg and i had dinner at misoya ramen where their playlist seemed to come from the year 1977 or 8 - it could have been wlir or wplj long island in the '70's . . every song was from my high school years.
this was from a little earlier, however,
drift away, released in 1972 and first heard by me in california when visiting my aunt and uncle . . hence it's ultimate categorization as a "california song," whose full list can be found under the post
seemingly everywhere under the sun on a saturday.
and walking home we came upon a roller blade parade . .
. . just another hot summer day in gotham . .
