lots of holly! we passed several very large holly trees . .
i think this is a budding red maple tree . .
skunk cabbage which adam had me smell (because i just had to know why it was called skunk cabbage) . . it was not pleasant (i did not think a flower could smell so bad).
tick house is on the right which i think was once dick cavett's house.
the white buildings in the distance are what was once the warhol estate.
some very wet and oily looking peat . . i also heard an eastern towhee while standing here looking at the water and taking photos . . it was my first time noticing an eastern towhee bird call and i used my merlin app on my phone to learn what it was.
we passed some beautiful old oak trees on the hike back . .
checking out where we hiked on the map . .
we were very hungry for an easter lunch afterwards.
adam and i both chose the fish and trips with extra tartar sauce . .
greg had the crab meat omelette with home fries.
a walk to the inlet afterwards . .
some little ones having a fun time on the rocks . .
and a game of yahtzee in the evening along with cookies and ice cream (adam won by scoring one point over greg).
chanda sent us a movie of how she tries to keep cricket from pestering her while she studies.
and i had a short zoom meeting with fellow test knitters for a friend's new knitting pattern coming out this week.
----
before heading home today, we visited adam at his new job at the hatchery.
algae brewing for the clams and oysters . .
thousands of quahogs growing for the bay . .
watching them swimming around under the microscope was very interesting (and as exciting as seeing the tardigrades under chanda's microscope when at woods hole) . .
i remember my dad talking about the hatchery because it was on the same road as his job when he moved here in the late '80's. he and my mom must be smiling down now, to see adam working here.
i had to return a book to the library and while there i discovered that they had just started collecting plastic bags for recycling! i am so happy about this as i find the massive accumulation of plastic bags very distressing.
i vacuumed and oiled the country wood floor in the kitchen before packing up and getting ready to leave. greg loaded up the car and we were on the road . .
to stop and have dosas for lunch (along with a strawberry lassi).
chanda was back from class and came down to help us carry bags upstairs. it was a lovely easter and it was nice to be back in the evening while it was still daylight. the longer days feel so good.
