my friend has been bringing me her garden vegetables from vermont. i've been making pesto with her basil, and i've been enjoying these salt and pepper cucumbers.
we had them with scrambled eggs this morning.
i made cucumbers this morning also,
from the nourishing traditions cookbook.
a tablespoon of mustard seeds, a tablespoon of sea salt and four tablespoons of fresh whey made by draining about a cup and a half of yogurt through a cloth . .
which made fresh soft, cream cheese.
the jars will sit on the counter for three to four days and then i'll put them in the refrigerator.
chanda prepared for a birthday weekend upstate at her friend's country house.
she hopes to knit her a totoro doll. we have the yarn, she just needs to sit down and knit.
korrina came by for lunch today. this is her latest knitting project. i love her choice of colors.
soon the others joined us . .
and then we all went our separate ways again: korrina to work, morgana to babysitting and chanda to rehearsal and then upstate.
i went to the matcha bar on 15th street for a craft fair meeting.
our friend carol's daughter graduated from homeschooling so carol won't be planning the meeting with us this year. i think it's been ten years that we've been doing this together, so we really miss her.
janet was prepared with several project ideas: a toilet paper roll tree, a wire and bead angel, and a ribbon tree with cranberry beads. katie thinks she will do a sled ornament, and i'll be taking on two of carol's annual crafts: tags and candle decorating. i may also do a very cute toilet paper mouse that janet had pinned . . i better test it out . . and i hope i don't wait until the last minute to do so.
