chanda danced with her friends today at bethesda fountain, in celebration of isadora duncan's birthday (which was may 27th).
they were invited to join dancer and choreographer catherine gallant at the yearly festival she organizes. catherine studied with julia levien, who was a student of anna duncan, one of isadora's adopted daughters. click here for a new york times article about ms. levien.
i just found an interesting website that explains a bit of the genealogy of duncan dancing. you can find it here. chanda and her friends, above, have studied with two of the teachers mentioned, catherine gallant and lori belilove.
chanda has been so busy with ballet and class with ellen that she hasn't had time to practice or perform duncan lately. she really enjoyed today. (these pictures are compliments of my friend deborah, as i missed the performance this afternoon).
