evening adventure

i met greg at macnally's bookstore in soho this evening. he had an amazon gift card with which he wanted to buy some books, and he offered to get chanda and i a book each also. sweet, eh?

chanda chose to browse the travel section . .

greg likes to browse the new fiction table . .

afterwards we walked a few blocks south and west to . .

                                       lombardi's!!!

morgana did a "meet me at the corner" episode here a number of years ago (which, unfortunately, i cannot find online right now, however here is my blogpost about the shoot) (and you know what is so amazing!!?? that SIX - 2009!!!- years have passed since morgana did this shoot and we NEVER visited until tonight!!!!!!!!  i cannot type enough exclamation points to show my shock at this state of affairs! it just astounds me! because, and if you visit the link you will see, it honestly, honestly!!!! feels like just yesterday to me that we were there doing the shoot!!!!).

(okay, back to the present, 2015) we ordered a margarita pie and ate every piece . .

(my and chanda's book choices - what a statement of our mindset and interests these days).

lunch at dean and deluca

chanda and i ate lunch at dean and deluca this afternoon after her duncan dance rehearsal at DANY studios on 39th street (where i face-timed with morgana on the couch while waiting for rehearsal to end).

cream puffs

korrina brought home chocolate dipped cream puffs last night from school.

the filling was amazing! and we ate them for breakfast!

wednesday ballet class

my ballet mom friend ro and i had fun peeking in the window at today's rehearsal for the end of school year production of fantasia.

wednesday treats and sweets

it was an incredibly warm and beautiful day and chanda and i walked the high line to la bergamote cafe where we shared a quiche and tarts . . strawberry and . .

blackberry.

and then later on since it felt like 80 degrees . . we had gelato at amorino on university place.

it really hit the spot!

we also sketched a flower on the high line, however, the computer has a new photo software system and i'm having trouble using it. apple is not on my good company list creating new programs that are more difficult to use than the old ones. these photos were taken with the smartphone which i upload directly to blogger. the ones from camera to computer i'm still figuring out.

after three weeks away . .

the apartment wasn't in such bad shape . . except for the refrigerator. unfortunately, it smelled like something had died in it . . as i found out . . it had!! a fillet of cod was slowly rotting away . .

about town

driving home along west side highway . .

so glad to be back in the city . .

sunset on the trees . . but what trees . . ??

i don't know, but they're very pretty . .

the new whitney museum! though we find the structure by renzo piano too factory like, the feel of the promenade along gansevoort street is very warm with a cafe that will open to the public on may first.

the beginning of the high line . .

view west of the cafe and museum entrance . .

waiting for korrina in bleecker park . .

the moon is just a little white dot just below the building . .

a new place has opened on seventh avenue . . otto's tacos. two months ago i saw them laying the concrete floor.

delicious tacos . .

a line queued up just after we ordered.

chicken and mushroom with cilantro and onions.

this is a sad sight . . our favorite place to have hot chocolate and ice cream and egg creams and tea has closed. the chocolate bar will no longer service the west village. they're keeping a storefront near asbury park, new jersey, and taking orders online at chocolatebarnyc.com

hmm. will they keep the nyc in their name when they no longer have a shop here? too confusing! too sad! woe is us poor new york customers!

we look happy here . . getting ice cream sodas and milk shakes at hamilton's on bank street, but don't let those smiles fool you. we're just happy to be together again . . we'd trade our smiles for a few frowns if we knew it would bring back the chocolate bar . . !

back in the big apple! peace and love!

bluegrass sunday

once a month my sister's church has "bluegrass sunday." my brother-in-law helps lead the band. he has a beautiful singing voice and has played the guitar and piano all his life without lessons (my sister once took a piano course with him in college and was constantly annoyed with him as he would ask her to play the song they were supposed to have learned during the week one hour before class . . and then of course would play it perfectly while she was still struggling after hours practicing). he's standing fourth from the left, guitar in hand.
