in the evening

 we had a delicious dessert of the goodies that were made today . . 

 and then greg read the night before christmas, written just uptown from us by clement c. moore in chelsea. when i was a little girl, my sister gave me a book of poems illustrated by tasha tudor which we read from each year, and i love how she has the cat sitting so contentedly next to st. nick, quietly watching him work.
