santa lucia day

happy santa lucia day!

the night before we had made the dough for lüssekats.

so this morning we could just roll them out and shape them.

i love lüssekats because of the delicious saffron they have in them! i also like the clementines we get at this time of year . . and all the chocolate!

we read the lucia story in our christmas roses book. i'm also reading daily watch for the light, readings for advent and christmas; and the hobbit for the hundredth time!

we also read a lovely rendition of the lucia story posted on the waldorf homeschoolers email list by giuli, a fellow email member. it was the nicest interpretation i've ever read. she wrote it for her second graders.

morgana worked on her gifts (felt birds) for the children she watches at study group on mondays . .

and for the children she regularly babysits for. these are felted soaps and she used the soap we bought in vermont at the soap making shop near my friend's home.

chanda began a cat with yarn spun by either korrina or morgana. it's a beautiful brown yarn. i think it was korrina, but she doesn't seem to remember. she spins so much!

our brunch . .

jack had a typical restful day.
