there's a rose in our courtyard that would like to bloom, but with this cold weather i'm not sure it will. however, it is a lovely little red bud, and it cheers me when i go to the laundry room.
chanda is reading a hint on one of her packages (a tradition my mother began), while morgana wraps a present.
morgana began the biscotti and then we finished it together. i love homemade biscotti . . and this recipe is one of my favorites. it calls for almonds, hazelnuts, and anise extract.
morgana also made peppermint bark. the most difficult part is breaking up the peppermint canes, which i think chanda helped her with. luckily, i think our downstairs neighbors weren't home! we also don't put on the top white chocolate . . . just a mix of semi-sweet and milk and crushed peppermint.
the children's pageant at our neighborhood church (st. luke in the fields) was early today: 5 o'clock pm. of course it was very crowded when we arrived . . and we sat up in the balcony, which morgana and chanda enjoyed.
we had a delicious dinner together of linguini and clam sauce . .
with arugula salad and prosciutto bread.
