morgana brought home marzipan that she made at sturbridge village. it was quite amazing. the last piece i ate was flavored with rosewater. it was very good to eat, but was not a flavor i'm used to!
we've been having lots of hot chocolate and gingerbread these past few days. teacher gifts this year consist of gingerbreads and french chocolates (one or the other!).
this evening for dinner we had potato soup, homemade oat bread, and sauteed zucchini with garlic. i've been trying to make this for the past week, and finally got it together tonight. the soup and bread recipes are from amanda soule's rhythm of the family book.
You look lovely! I knew the colour would be right! So glad morgana had a lovely time. Marzipan is my favourite although i am not sure about rose flavoured! X x
ReplyDeleteThe marzipan looks very good. What kind of food coloring did they use? You can still buy marzipan with rosewater in Germany. It used to be a remedy for constipation (almond flour, sugar, rosewater). Now it's a fancy kind of marzipan.

Deleteforgot to say that we crush our peppermint candie canes with a rolling pin! We put everything in a plastic bag and bash away with the end of the pin!!

We had our tree delivered on Monday and it's still wrapped in it's netting waiting to be placed, who knows where and decorated!

thanks for the peppermint cane tip. that's pretty much what we do too, except we use a hammer. it's my least favorite part . . and a very good part to give to the children!
