two birthdays

i went over a little earlier to kendall's today, before she had to go down to sit in the car, so that she could open aurélien's birthday gift with him. he turned one year old yesterday, june 30th. wow! i can't believe a whole year has gone by.

reading his birthday card . .

opening the gift . .

and kendall liked it - the birthday child doesn't really care yet.

afterwards i walked with janet to her building on the east side as she had to leave keys for the tenant to give access to the plumber coming to work in the basement.

i took these photos because the building is about a hundred years old and is similar to so many buildings in which i've had classes, appointment, and friends living in throughout the years.

that skylight!

and then we walked to burdick cafe where i was treated to a birthday frappé! chocolate with raspberry . .

and a book . . greg was excited because the author included several pages about his friend harry koutoukis, a playwright  who lived in the neighborhood fifteen or so years ago.

it started to pour!

  1. One year old already! That is hard to believe. He does look happy. Are the steps in the old building out of wood? The skylight is beautiful. Is Greg going to read the book first?

    1. Yes, all wood steps! Greg read a few chapters and then went back to the book he was reading before.
