hazy with no chance of showers

when i went out for groceries and to do the laundry today i was amazed at the haze, but didn't connect it to the fires out west until greg mentioned them at dinner. i also didn't think it was that hot today, but as the day progressed, i sunk into a stupor.

when shopping, i ran into chanda's boss buying baguettes (the cafe had run out) and he mentioned that chanda was in the park . . so on the way to the health food store i stopped by to say hello. chanda had been busy swatting mosquitoes. there were too many flying around, biting and just being annoying. these two look hot and disgruntled. that sums up this day.

(the fires are terrible right now. here's an article from the guardian about them, and here's a link to the beaver believers documentary about how beavers promote biodiversity and could help prevent the vast spread of forest fires.)

  1. Yes, it was awful! We also have too many mosquitoes and I do use bug spray sometimes when I go outside. We also bought some wrist bug repellant things, they are like bracelets. They work fairly well and are non-toxic. Why can't we dump all that German water onto those fires? That would be true progress!

    1. Yes, it would! Where did you find your mosquito repellent wrist bands? I'll have to try them!

    2. At Wegmans! They are called Bugables wristband citronella. Somebody in our home ecology group was using them and I thought they looked good. Flora says they are helping her.
