tech!

 waiting to begin . . i was surprised there were so many things onstage, such as: two huge ladders (!) and a table filled with gels and gobos. usually all gels and gobos are set and all ladders cleared away. i think there was a change in tech management for the theatre and order is still being established. there was also tension as there was a new sound technician who had to learn ellen's sound procedures.

 

chanda thought she would be able to run the whole dance through again as she was told to mark it the first time, but i guess they were short on time and she only ran it once.

discussing the ending with ellen . . 

next to tech was the dance walkaround vermeer:

 ellen had asked chanda to play vermeer for her class of fifteen to seventeen year olds as the class was small and she needed an extra person to help fill all the parts.

korrina played vermeer in 2008 , and morgana and chanda performed the piece in different roles in 2010 and 2015. during this evening's tech, the lighting designer had fun reminiscing about the particular part they had played (girl with a wine glass--you can see chanda perform it here), as ellen created it especially for morgana and allowed morgana to choreograph it herself. chanda then reprised the role in 2015. ahhh! nostalgia!
