dinner with friends

our friends ron and andy came over this evening for dinner (i made chicken, carrots, sweet potatoes and asparagus). we hadn't seen them since last summer when we went to shakespeare on the run in battery park city. i had said then that they needed to come over for dinner, so it was nice to finally get together.

we had a really great time talking and playing a board game they had brought me for my birthday: a 1970's trivia game. we weren't too bad at guessing the answers, though some of the specifics left us unsure (like trying to decide the exact year for a song or sport event . . ).

afterwards, we walked along the river and the high line all the way up to the hudson yards . .

and discussed some of the strange structures going up, like thomas heatherwick's vessel . .

and directly above where i'm taking this photo, is a bizarre looking construction that ron and andy informed us is called "the shed" and will be for the performing arts. it looks dreadful right now, but not as bad in the drawings in this article.

the weather was incredibly cool today, which lent itself well to my dinner as the kitchen didn't get too hot with the oven on  . .

however, i was really cold walking back home, and it's going to take some getting used to again when the hot weather returns!
