our mountain hydrangea, or tea of heaven, is in bloom in the courtyard. actually, this is a neighbor's plant that i get to admire on my way to the laundry room.
today was the first biking day since fall.
it's been very warm, and i wanted to get out before the day grew too hot.
however, even at 8 am the sun felt hot, so the coolness of the air by the water was a welcome relief.
it was beautifully clear.
chanda read a little bit from rachel carson's under the sea-wind.

and the buildings here are going up in the new hudson yards complex (you can see some of the construction there in this post from april--you have to scroll past the downton abbey exhibit photos).
in the evening, i drove chanda up to inwood for her mandatory driving instruction movie at the uptown driving school, where she'll be learning how to drive. we were so hot and sticky when we got home that we took showers before making a green salad and a salmon salad (the ac does not work very well in our car).
