up north

i drove up to connecticut today, to visit my mom. it was very, very grey, but the birds were still very busy out by the gazebo where we sat. it's been consistently in the 30 degree range, cold enough to keep the chickadees, cardinals, blue jays (and another bird whose call i can't identify) around, but not warm enough for spring to make a full arrival.

i printed out some photos before i left so we could look at ourselves during christmas time, and at morgana's visit in salzburg with her cousin michael.

connecticut is white with snow, not like grey manhattan. we have some winters where the snow sticks around, but, unfortunately, not this one.

i brought my mom chicken soup and chocolate ice cream from whole foods.

i had dinner with her and knitted a little on my pebble beach shawl before saying good night and heading to my sister's. i'll be back again on wednesday. there's supposed to be another nor'easter tomorrow.
