chanda and i were out of the house early this morning (seven am!) as she decided, after visiting the orthopedist, to have an MRI since her foot hasn't been much better. she looks a little melancholy here, but we've both accepted the nightmare that she isn't dancing in her beloved nutcracker this weekend. it's a nightmare for me as i had bought eight tickets for family and friends to see her! ah well, such is life. we'll still go as it is a beautiful and fun nutcracker. she'll watch the first half with us, and then help out backstage for the second half.
the radiology lab was on 15th street. afterwards, we visited a cafe that i've noticed in the neighborhood for many years, but just never visited. we thought we would have breakfast before the michaels craft store opened (i needed to buy glue and a few other things for the homeschooling craft fair on monday).
she had an avocado on toast and i had mushroom quiche, both of which were delicious. this cafe used to be called "la petite abeille" years ago where i would stop for a pain au chocolate.
at michaels where she picked out picture frames on a two for one sale.
there was a long line and it was only 9:30 in the morning! i never realized how crafty our society was . . !?
on our way back home i picked up a chocolate advent calendar from my friend janet.
i was back out again at ten minutes to one to walk all the way to first avenue and twenty-sixth street (a fifty minute walk--i timed it today) as i've decided to do the winter vegetable food box. now that it's colder, the veggies come from small farms in the south (today they were from north carolina and florida). i chose to walk home along first avenue as i was first going to stop and see my friend jeanette on the east side near her daughter's dance school. along the way i passed: la petite abeille! they're now located at first avenue and 19th street . . something like that.
jeanette and i had a slice of pie at PIE. she was confused . . she's still not used to pie being pizza pie. she thought i meant apple pie.
the pizza is weighed here and you can have the slice be as small or as large as you like.
time magazine looks interesting this week. i look forward to reading my brother-in-law's copy when we visit at christmastime.
When will you get the results of the MRI? Could it be a stress fracture?
ReplyDeleteMichaels' is always crowded, exactly like Jo-Ann Fabrics, at least the ones I have been to. I think these stores get very exhausting when there are so many people.
All stores are exhausting with so many customers. The Trader Joe's and Whole Foods Stores are always crowded here. I often will not go in, even if I need something.
