christmas tree excursion

greg was so busy with work this week that he wasn't able to take a day off for us to drive to connecticut to chop down a tree.

so we finally went out earlier today to look for a tree. the ones in our neighborhood were much too expensive, so we took the car to the east village.

all the tree sellers chanda had remembered passing on her walks east (with trees that she had liked) were gone! we had to search further and further east . . until finally we found trees on avenue a and 10th street . . one tree was $40! we turned the corner and found the fattest tree we had ever seen in our lives for . . $30! such good prices! the trees in our neighborhood were selling for $120 - $150! we were so happy and so relieved.

binding the tree for transport home . .

the trunk is so fat that it makes me think of jack's paws. i call this tree my bulldog tree.
