poetry and a studio rehearsal on a cold day

salutation to the dawn

look to this day:
for it is life, the very life of life.
in its brief course
lie all the verities and realities of your existence.
the bliss of growth,
the glory of action,
the splendor of acievement
are but experiences of time.

for yesterday is but a dream
and tomorrow is only a vision;
and today well-lived, makes
yesterday a dream of happiness
and every tomorrow a vision of hope.
look well therefore to this day;
such is the salutation to the ever-new dawn!

 i went with chanda to her studio rehearsal this morning, and had a chobani yogurt breakfast.

i mostly knitted while she worked and tried to get "unstuck" in her choreography . .

 after two hours of trying to get unstuck . .

 you can see what a grey day it was . .

 everyone was in hats and coats again, after such a warm and sunny saturday.

 but everything still keeps blooming . .

 here are the callery pear trees on west 11th street . .

 daffodils shining for us instead of the sun . .

and now it's raining as i post this. i was supposed to meet greg for dinner with a hs school teacher friend of his, who is in town for an education conference (she's been a college academic for the past 30 years), but i stayed home instead . .

  1. Poor Chanda that music seemed very complicated to interpret. I am sure inspiration will strike she always manages to come up with the goods! X

    1. She came home today from class and said she changed the music . . to two pieces that she had originally wanted. We'll see what happens now :)
