chanda joined me for members' night at the rubin tibetan museum this evening.
they always usually have an interactive exhibit, and tonight they had notes for us to write what we're anxious about . .
and what we're hopeful about . .
everyone writing their hopes and anxieties on the little notecards . .
they also had a "scavenger hunt" which she helped me with. one of the questions was to find three minerals used in tibetan buddhist thangka paintings (paintings done on cotton or silk applique usually depicting a buddhist diety or scene, or a mandala), which turned out to be cinnabar for red, azurite for blue and malachite for green. it took us a little while to find this answer, but we finally discovered it just before closing time.
the hunt also asked that we find a mythical creature in one of the paintings which turned out to be a yeti. i found this amusing as i once did a report on yetis for a high school paper.
the questions were very interesting and i'm sorry i didn't take a photo
of the paper they were written on, as i can't remember them all!
it was dark when we left, but it was still light when i arrived for the event at 7:30. it's so nice having longer days.

What a fantastic thing to do! Everyone sharing and letting go of something troubling and replacing it with the positive. I loved the commentator reflecting on NYC about folk being diverse and living together peacefully ❤️
ReplyDeleteYes! That was one of our favorites too. I also liked how many people wrote about their belief in loving one another.
