it was so warm today . . finally a perfect day for fixing up the children's garden by the laundry room.
it went up to 70 degrees! we had to take off our sweaters . . and it felt good to water . .
i'm always so amazed at how the hyacinths come back each year.
all the hyacinths in this garden are plants my mom gave me each easter.
i like to make sure to walk by every day to see how they're doing . . are the blooms completely open? all of them? are they starting to fade? right now they are still opening . .
morgana had to hurry off to study group. she put together another puppet show. it takes me awhile to upload the movie. i hope to have it ready for next monday!
we have two bags of compost for the green market on saturday.
it's such a wonderful sense of accomplishment . . raking, composting, planting, sweeping . . taking care of the garden in the spring. i have many happy gardening memories from when we were in brooklyn at 276 prospect place . . the girls were so little . . and we would walk to the botanic garden to buy plants, then sweep the patio and plant the marigolds, geraniums and herbs in the large planters. of course little hands liked to rearrange them often!! but i can still remember the wonderful uplifting feeling of having an orderly and clean patio garden . . if only for a few moments!!!

It was quite warm here yesterday also, but now it's raining and really cold again. The children even got out sandals to play outside. Now we are back to hats and Jonathan put on his gloves when walking to his Irish Dance class tonight.
ReplyDeleteThose hyacinths are so pretty, ours are much smaller still. I agree, springtime is so nice when you can be out gardening again. There are also fewer weeds.
yes, it's a lovely time of year . . when you've had a good winter! it's been a few years since i have really enjoyed SPRING. i'm usually so tired that i still want to hibernate . . but this year, i feel ready for the blossoming . . .
DeleteOur magnolia tree is showing some pink on top of the buds! Now I do hope we won't get another frost or long rain.
