a tuesday morning with korrina and chanda

korrina had slept over a friend's house, but came home in the morning asking if chanda and i still wanted to go to la bergamote, as we had planned a few days prior.

we decided to have breakfast first, so i made them a rosemary frittata and i had a soft boiled egg.

we always take the high line to chelsea these days.

so i could get pictures of late summer blooms.

hmm . . there's a cattail study i've been wanting to do for the outdoor hour nature challenge.

this is a seedpod of the swamp mallow (hibiscus moscheutos subspecies palustris as i'm told by andi pettis, a high line gardener). in mid-summer it has huge pink blossoms that we also see down by the weeping willow trees in the hudson river park. i was always wondering about those large hibiscus flowers. now i know they're native to wetlands along the southeastern states from texas to the atlantic and up to southern ontario.

lemon verbena tea . . and korrina and i both had the peach pastry . .

korrina also had la bergamote's blackberry ginger iced tea . .

the weather has been beautiful and walking around the city has been wonderfully pleasant . .
