i made (my mom's german) pancakes for breakfast this morning, which i haven't done in awhile, and greg read the above poem to chanda and i. he's now pulling out the old caulking and grouting in the tub (which i will later refill) and chanda is getting ready for work. we have another beautiful sunny day. unsurprisingly, it's back up to 44 degrees!

These are lovely tulips and the poem is very true! There is a similar German poem called "Was es ist" by Erich Fried. Good luck with the caulking. When Peter tried that, he failed miserably. The new caulk never stuck.

No, the gap was too big! The whole wall was rotten and the bath tub had moved away from the wall so that the caulk did not stay where it was supposed to stay. That is why Peter's parents gave us money to have somebody redo our bathroom.

Exactly . . yes, our tub and tiles are starting to do this also. We need to redo completely sometime in the next few years. The next step for us is to get a new vanity, as the one we have is deteriorating on the bottom where it sits next to the tub.
DeleteWe had trouble finding one, but are happy with ours. It is hard to find one with the right dimensions.

DeleteHome Depot, we went to the store to look what they had, but they were all wrong. So we looked online at Home Depot and the choices were much better.
DeleteYou also have to know how your faucets are hooked up and figure out height/width/and depth. Some of the new vanities do not have real drawers anymore.
