a sunny sunday

 and a sunny day . . 

 we've had so many cloudy days, so a sunny walk today felt wonderful.

 our plan was to walk to target so greg could buy a new belt, and i could buy a new cotton rug for the bathroom. along the way we stopped at lionbrand yarn studio as i needed some knitting needles. they always have such gorgeous and inspiring window displays.

 i found the needles i needed, but unfortunately a closing sign greeted customers at the cash register. the company has decided to focus on wholesale, and no longer keep the retail store. this is a huge disappointment for many people, as the store has been a hub for knitters all over the city. everyone loves coming here for project ideas and help, lessons, gifts and necessary supplies.

 it's such a beautiful place! i will miss it tremendously!

 we made it to target where greg found his belt, but they didn't have any cotton rugs in the bright colors i was hoping for. (the building above with it's clock and water towers is at broadway and 13th street.)

 i took greg to pinkberry just this summer i think, and now it's one of his favorite places. he had the pomegranate flavor with six different toppings. i had original with pineapple and granola (except the sign said "ganola." i wasn't sure if that was a typo, or a special pinkberry word).

 later in the day i visited chanda at work . . 

 she made me a decaf mocha for my walk to get dinner ingredients (via another yarn store to get two skeins of mohair for a sweater project).

dinner tonight was pasta carbonara and a salad. it's been awhile since i've made this. it feels like a summer dish to me . . well, it's been a consistent 40 degrees every day . . it's been a summery winter here in new york city.
