today was a little better for us. the sun shone through our new curtains and lit the room in a more cheerful glow. we were up early to meet our friends and go ice skating. it's our friend deychen's half birthday. she is always in vermont on her full birthday in august, so we like to celebrate with her in the winter. she joined janet and yves and morgana and chanda and i at the rink in bryant park. it was a quiet skating day with not many skaters, which i always appreciate. after skating, we met marisa and went to otto's! we love going here. we've been several times together, and it was nice to sit and talk and laugh over old and new stories.
marisa is showing us her christmas tree that she put up after her mom's funeral. she also showed us the special service she had prepared for the 49th day after her mom's passing where she had four tibetan monks come and chant for the day. (she has a new ipad and has been enjoying using it!)
