when il cantuccio first moved into the neighborhood about two years ago, i was shocked at their prices. morgana and chanda and i remember them charging $9.99 for a quarter pound of their (delicious, i have to say) fig almond cookies. today the sign in the store says $4.99. we're not sure if they lowered their price, or if we've just grown accustomed to the exorbitant rates of the neighborhood's newest shops. whatever the reason, we often pass it on the way to the local train downtown, and i've found that il cantuccio's espresso is one of the best; not at all bitter. they also sell a delicious brioche type roll called a pancioc, which has soft chocolate morsels in it. in the morning i just cannot resist stopping on our way to the train.
