walking home from errands and a lunch date

i walked past mercer books on my way back from lunch with jeanette at ciccio's (i also had vision therapy earlier, and saw chanda after her microbial ecology class, and waited with her while she ordered a sandwich at the bagel place). there was a book about edith wharton by eleanor dwight that had a lot of interesting photos and anecdotes, so i purchased it . . i know greg will enjoy reading it too.

the days are warm here (70's) but the leaves are golden and red and carpeting the pavement everywhere. the kittens are cuddling with us everyday and bouncing around from room to room. cricket is a bit picky about his food and i've needed to go out and buy specific flavors from a list his foster family kindly provided via communication with the meow parlour adoption team (he doesn't like "patés" and prefers "flaked" or "shredded" meals) fern is still named fern and i'm still muddling through other names in my head that might be more fitting . . but nothing has stuck yet.

some of the lovely little gifts lisa-lou had me pick out of a cloth bag from paris: a rock from bordeaux (andernos-les-bains) painted by her mom, a magnet from her as a remembrance, caramels from bretagne and a little journal and collector's coin from paris.

  1. Why do you want to rename the cats? Julius did not like the chunks in his food. Funny, how different cats can be. Those gifts are very pretty (and so are your sandals) :). We have also had very warm weather; too warm for November! I think we have one book by Edith Wharton, but I don't remember which one and I don't remember reading it :).

    1. We're keeping Cricket's name, but Fern didn't feel quite right to me so I've been considering other names. People often change the name from the ones the foster caregivers use. In fact, these cats originally were called Oliver and Chloe before their NYC foster changed them to Cricket and Fern (they came from a shelter in Kentucky that was too full).

    3. The cats must get very confused with so many name changes :).
