art gallery visit

today was the last day of the diane arbus exhibit at the david zwirner gallery on 20th street. it was a revisit of an earlier retrospective of her work from 1972 at moma . . so i was really excited to go.

photography has changed so much after all these years. diane arbus took many of these photos with a twin lens rolleiflex (allowing for beautiful light, shadow and clarity)  . . today many of the people were snapping the photos they found particularly moving with their cell phones . . photos of photos. the two above were some of my favorites.
you can read more about the exhibit here.

  1. The photos look interesting! Those two kids look like they would be about to do some mischief. Kind of funny to take photographs of photographs. And so true, using your cell phone to take a picture does not look like much of an art form anymore.
