while waiting for the car to be repaired . .

we arrived at my sister's tuesday evening, after greg had finished work, and had a delicious dinner of sausage and peppers with her and warren. they left for. virginia, to visit warren's brother the next day. it's a beautiful fall! the trees seem to be extra colorful this year. toby has a little sniffle so greg and i have been giving her medicine to help with the congestion (one drop in each nostril . . not so easy to administer). greg is working from the upstairs guest bedroom, and the car is in the shop with steve at classic auto. i've been knitting and watching podcasts of knitting acquaintances. saturday afternoon we had a delicious octoberfest early dinner at the ordinary, a local restaurant (one of our favorite places) and on sunday we visited lorrie and grandma millie, taking over a broccoli bread from mozzicato's in middletown. their garden is spectacular also! and her two cats are shy and sweet. max, her maine coon cat (who wandered in from her yard one day - she gets many feral cats in her yard, two of whom i saw that day), is a big guy and loves sitting in the living room window. muff is her older female cat and is slowing down and mainly sleeps peacefully on lorrie's bed. grandma milly is 99 now and is getting over a bad cold. it felt good to have lunch and visit with them. monday we had a breakfast snack at the newish big Y supermarket in town and on tuesday kathy and warren arrived home, and i enjoyed showing them some of the london photos and zoomed with morgana (and played a game of scattergories). our car was finally fully repaired that afternoon and after a walk by the lake, we headed home in the evening, making it back just in time to pick up lisa-lou at jfk airport (which is described in the next post - i'm writing all this at a later date).

(cookies from mozzicato's bakery and an apple crumble that i made)
