wednesdays with wendy and one knitted sock

it feels a bit magical for me to be able to take a ballet class with a prima ballerina i've admired since the 90's. wendy whalen comes onto new york city ballet's instagram page every wednesday at 5 pm and puts about 286 people (that was today's count) through their paces in a gentle, yet hardworking and meditative manner. i look forward to it every week.

i currently have two unfinished objects on the needles. the first is this sock which needs a toe, and second is the sleeve ribbing of the sweater i had been working on with marisa (from march fourth). the book in this photo is the third in the emily of new moon series (and the final one). i enjoyed it, but the first is still my favorite. i was a little annoyed with this one as she spends the whole book pretending not to be in love with the character she's in love with; even going so far as to let him marry her best friend . . or almost let him marry her best friend. her best friend comes to her senses finally, but not with any help from emily!!!

  1. Maybe you should have shaken the book a bit to make her come to her senses! Great knitting! Charlotte is doing ballet with some Russian people and the always say a Russian words that sounds like they saw a yucky worm somewhere. I always have to laugh when I hear that.

    1. That's funny about Charlotte's teachers. How is it working out for her summer intensive, and Jonathan's also?

    2. Well, they both have not been able to make money so far. There are no jobs to get right now. The college is not hiring seasonal workers. There are not other jobs around here for young people. And Europe is not letting in any Americans so far. It looks like they will not do any summer intensives. Also, their colleges will start much earlier (mid-August) and end earlier as well. It is kind of a lost summer.
