i really haven't been out much, (ummmm . . at all, really) but today i ventured forth for farm fresh eggs. our favorite local farmer had emailed to say that they would be at the green market this morning, and i knew that if i wasn't there early, i'd miss out on the eggs.
everyone was wearing a mask, and everyone was social distancing. each farm stand had lines drawn showing where to wait in line, and each one picked the produce for you. there was no rummaging on our own for mushrooms or lettuce or turnips or apples . . or the lavender plant i came away with.
people enjoying sunshine and conversation with neighbors . . the beautiful weather and return of the farmers boosted our spirits . .
though it certainly felt very strange seeing all humans with their noses and mouths covered . .
i think i went a little overboard on the treats and sweets. the cutting board has two special cheeses . . both with ash . . . along with a strawberry rhubarb pie and a sour cream coffee cake from the apple farm (from whom i also bought cider and apples).
i also bought a new jar of my favorite honey . .
and the sour cream coffee cake was incredibly delicious.
chanda blocked the summer top she knitted with linen yarn from quince and co . .
and then wore it while she put together the shelves that were delivered from ikea this morning.

when i walked outside our building this morning, i was surprised to see that the tulips were almost finished blooming.

The food looks all so fresh and yummy! You had sunshine, we didn't really. It was quite gray. I have not even been to the next village. Peter does the shopping and so I don't have any reason to go anywhere. It does feel strange, but that is our new life. At least people don't have to wear masks when walking around here.
