a quiet, but busy, sunday

another pic of pluto helping me take down the christmas tree decorations last night . .

i don't know why he likes sitting back here . .

this morning greg sawed off the tree branches . .

i was hoping to take the tree to be mulched today at washington square park, but the last day for doing so was yesterday. greg was really nice to help take the tree apart so i could compost the branches and save the trunk to be discarded in my sister's yard (i did this a few years ago when i had missed the mulching date).

 where's the tree!?

 but, i miss the tree!

two bags ready for the compost container in the garbage area.

it was too much to take all the bags down at one time for composting. we left several in the back bedroom for later in the week . . we also had to keep the door closed as pluto was constantly knocking the bags over to sniff the tree branches . .

a late breakfast on the first sunday without children or guests in the house.

jenny's flowers she brought for us on tuesday before leaving . .

my cowl is coming along well . .

greg and pluto at work . .

 greg and i went for a walk . . i think he's checking for the whereabouts of a particular cafe . .

we went separate ways as i was meeting my friend janet for a walk on the high line . .

relaxing on the lounge chairs that are rarely free . .  it was nice that there weren't too many people today.

 just a quiet winter day . .

we walked over to 192 books on tenth avenue (on our way to tea at the high line hotel) . .

i always love browsing the shelves here . .

in the evening for dinner, greg and i went to the corner bistro at jane street and west fourth street. we've been trying to eat out at places we've never been to before, and this was one of them.

we both had burgers which were large and appropriately greasy and very good. the christmas decorations made it feel warm and neighborly inside.

  1. Maybe they were "proper burgers" as they call them in England.

Greg is a dear that he sawed apart that tree! I think here people just toss their trees into the woods . . .
