my cousin hasn't been out to visit my mom and dad in over a year, so she decided to come up for their 64th wedding anniversary celebration.
we planned on having lobster dinners and chanda, i and aunt kathy had the most fun riding with aunt cindy to the dock to pick them up in her bmw convertible with the top down!
we first had mussels and steamers . . (my mouth is watering just writing about this) . .
and then it was time for the lobster . .
and stories! reminiscing was a big part of the evening . .
my cousin's and my sister's stories are from before i was born, when they were about seven and eight years old. in my cousin's story, she remembers wandering away from a restaurant (all my sister's idea!) on the boardwalk at atlantic city (i think!) where my aunt and my mom were having coffee . . my sister reminisces about a time when she and my cousin were left alone with pom pom (our german grandfather who died before i was born) who was very hard of hearing. she had been left in a playpen and she couldn't get out of it, but she had to go to the bathroom and my cousin wouldn't help her. i love hearing these stories, but there was a time when i felt very resentful that i had never been a part of them! thank goodness that is no longer true.
i was in charge of the dessert and had brought italian pastries . .
and a chocolate mousse cake from venieros.
